Words and Silences Premiere November 9th
A quick note to say: the premiere of Words and Silences will take place on November 9th, at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus Ohio. If you are in the area, I would love for you to hear and see the show.
All of the original performers from the album will be joining me, including Katie Porter Maxwell (bass clarinet), Jeremy Woodruff (flute, alto sax), Phil Rodriguez (trumpet), and William Lang (trombone). The performance will be in Mershon Auditorium, so there will be plenty of seating.
The performance will be of all the material from the album. There will also be video: slow and contemplative film footage of Merton's hermitage and the surrounding fields and woods.
If you are unable to make it, I will also be traveling down to Kentucky with the ensemble in November to perform and film inside the hermitage. In the next few months, we will then have a performance video to share with you that aims to both capture a sense of place and also allow Merton's voice to be heard again within the walls of the building.
